“With Hapti, I want to bring a little more color, as well as peace and comfort, into the everyday lives of dementia patients.” — Nicole Bralo-Dunker, founder of Hapti.

What Hapti stands for

Many people with dementia knead their hands for hours. They pluck at blankets, sleeves, or the edge of the table. Their hands are looking for something familiar. Often, they are cold while doing so.

That is how Hapti came to be. The Hapti muff is made of soft wellness fleece, allowing hands to warm up inside. A string with wooden beads for tactile stimulation hangs inside. On the outside, there is a knitted cuff with light balls that can be slid back and forth, as well as a small pouch with a drawstring. It can hold a ring or an old passport photo. The lap blanket works on the same principle, just for the lap.

It was important to me that Hapti be colorful without looking like it belongs in a child's room. You should feel good about placing it in the hands of a father or grandmother. With respect.

Anyone accompanying a person with dementia knows those long afternoons. Hapti is meant to bring a little bit of color, peace, and security into them.
